One contemporary philosopher I particularly admire is Nassim Nicholas Taleb, due to his distinctiveness.

In his book The Black Swan, Taleb presents a crucial argument: If you do not bear responsibility for a matter, you should refrain from commenting indiscriminately.

Hence, the original English title of the book is Skin in the Game: Only when you share the risks involved can you be considered a genuine participant.

Guided by this fundamental principle, as a law firm deeply engaged in China’s Web3.0 blockchain industry, we have established anunwritten rule:As professional service providers in this industry, you must immerse yourself in the experience and personally engage with the entire process of utilizing blockchain technology, whether involving traditional cryptocurrencies or the latest NFTs.

Prolonged legal practice may lead to a “loss of humanity,” making one less relatable. Only by experiencing the purchase, holding, and transfer of virtual assets as a user can you truly understand user scenarios, genuinely empathize intellectually and emotionally with innovators in the industry, and comprehend the actual issues faced by clients who seek your consultation daily, rather than relying solely on abstract legal logic deduced from a detached perspective or anecdotal judicial experience.

We recently collaborated with POPO, an industry NFT marketing partner, to issue Mankun Law Firm’s NFT badges on the Conflux network. Every friend attending our Friday afternoon tea events at Mankun can claim their event NFT badge using a dynamic “passcode.”

You may ask about the practical utility of this initiative. Its utility is limited; the primary intent is to experience participation as a genuine player, simply for enjoyment.

Previously, a friend invited me to join a Web3.0 practitioners’ discussion group. One member asked, “Attorney Liu, do you hold Bitcoin?” I replied affirmatively. The member responded, “That is good. Only those who hold cryptocurrencies can understand that such assets are legally protected!”

This represents a typical scenario worthy of attention for professionals providing commercial services in the blockchain industry. Of course, this article does not encourage investment in cryptocurrencies. On the contrary, I strongly advise against novices engaging in the purchase and trading of cryptocurrencies. The reason is straightforward: Due to our professional role, we encounter significantly more cases of investment fraud and losses than stories of legendary successes within the cryptocurrency community.

Returning to the topic, the motivation for revisiting these perspectives and writing this brief article stems from my purchase yesterday noon of a new blind box from Crypto Doge, a prominent domestic NFT project, for RMB 99.99. This action immerses me as a participant in the Crypto Doge community, allowing me to discuss NFT projects like Crypto Doge with legitimate firsthand experience.

Blockchain projects lacking internet spirit tend to be uninteresting.

Among numerous blockchain projects, I favor only two: Bitcoin and Dogecoin. From a personal preference standpoint, I consider Dogecoin the most grounded project in the internet world. Indeed, the project itself originated as a deliberate parody and imitation of Bitcoin, modifying core parameters such as block packaging speed and total currency supply. Positively, this can be interpreted as a tribute to Bitcoin; alternatively, it inherently carries the internet’s gene for satire and humor.

Consequently, I hold a favorable view toward most meme projects and initiatives centered around dog-themed imagery, purely based on personal preference. For this reason, I particularly appreciate the Crypto Doge NFT project, which similarly leverages the Shiba Inu as an internet cultural symbol.

Spending RMB 99.99 to purchase a digital image involves no complex rationale. It requires no binding membership benefits, no promises of welfare fulfillment from the project creators, nor participation in subsequent project dividends or other complicated procedures. The reason for purchasing an NFT can be simple: You like it.

I discussed this matter with my colleagues at Mankun during lunch. I remarked that NFTs can be viewed complexly as tools for enterprise-level digital marketing, or simply as mechanisms to gain the appreciation of a few hundred online users. Kevin Kelly, known as the prophet of the internet era, once stated that one needs only 1,000 true fans to thrive. For artistic creators in the Web3.0 era, NFT technology serves as a powerful instrument.

Although the domestic NFT digital collectibles market has become considerably subdued after more than a year of development, reflecting broader unfavorable economic conditions, it is remarkable that high-quality projects like Crypto Doge continue to attract significant popularity. At least within the Crypto Doge community I frequent, there is intense competition among users attempting to purchase the latest blind boxes. Is this driven by speculative investment, or does it reflect the inherent excellence of the project itself?

From my perspective, encountering an entertaining internet project and participating in it through technological ownership provides intrinsic enjoyment that far exceeds the cost of participation.
